The African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC) is a 12-month, high-touch leadership and management training program that empowers women from across Africa and the diaspora with the skills and network needed to establish and grow their businesses. AWEC uses applied and collaborative learning models, enabling immediate business impact and cultivating a pan-African cooperative of entrepreneurs, experts, and allies.Lessons are designed to be practical and applicable both to well-established business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Our unique model delivers impact through a fast-paced blended learning experience that leverages live learning sessions, individual and team assignments, mentoring from business professionals, peer networking and feedback, bi-annual in-person Leadership Summits.

Cohort members who are highly engaged in program activities earn a Certificate of Completion. Each cohort is supported by a team of teaching assistants, program staff and mentors. This approach creates personalized experiences and results in exceptionally high program engagement.

While there is no cost to participate in AWEC, we require commitment, hard work and active engagement from cohort members. Those who thrive in this program are rewarded with a transformative year-long experience, invaluable business skills and knowledge, and a pan-African network of peers and allies.
